(OurNationNews.com) Vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance warned of China’s control of U.S. pharmaceutical products during a Middletown, OH rally. Vance said he believes that the U.S. should be producing more products rather than importing from countries like China. He said that his running mate Donald Trump agrees with him on this issue. Vance said 95% that is purchased in the U.S. is produced in China along with the vast majority of antibiotics.
Vance alluded to the COVID-19 outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, as a key reason that the country should not be trusted with public health. Vance said that the U.S. shouldn’t trust products from China, even minuscule plastic toys. He suggested a “manufacturing renaissance” and said the U.S. should be producing more products of all types. He said that he especially distrusts Chinese pharmaceutical products that children put into their bodies.
According to a report by the Coalition for a Prosperous America, there needs to be policy changes to encourage American companies to compete with subsidized Chinese pharmaceutical products. The coalition’s research confirms Vance’s statement and comes to the conclusion that 90% of all prescription drugs come from China and India.
Trump’s first administration took a tough stance on China and he has floated the idea of placing a 60% tariff on Chinese imports. Vance referred to China as the most significant threat to the United States shortly after accepting the vice presidential slot on the 2024 Trump ticket in November. Vance has suggested that Trump will be able to negotiate an end to the Ukraine Russia conflict, which has been a distraction to dealing with the threat of China.
Chinese markets have been slammed following the announcement of Vance as Trump’s VP pick because of his strong support for imposing tariffs on Chinese goods. Vance has also said that China is building its middle class at the expense of U.S. citizens. He said cheap foreign goods from China have caused a decrease in American wages and the decline of the middle class.
