VA Issues Half-Staff Order For Firefighter Slain At Trump Rally

(OurNationNews.com) Governor Glenn Youngkin of Virginia called for the state and American flags to be flown at half-staff to honor Corey Comperatore, the man who tragically lost his life at a rally for presidential candidate Donald Trump on July 13. Comperatore was hit by a bullet during an attempted assassination attempt of former President Trump. As the gunfire occurred, Comperatore shielded his wife and children from the bullets and was killed at the scene of the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Youngkin made a statement that the state of Virginia stands in “solidarity” to everyone in Pennsylvania, but especially the family of Comperatore, who was a volunteer firefighter. Helen Comperatore, the wife of the deceased, said she received a call from President Trump in the aftermath of her husband’s death. She called Trump “very kind” and he said he would continue to contact her in the coming weeks to check on her. She told him that Corey died a hero and did not die in vain.

President Biden attempted to contact Helen Comperatore to offer his grievances after the tragedy in Butler, PA, but she reportedly refused the phone call. She said that her husband strongly supported the Republican party and wouldn’t have wanted her to speak with Biden. She referred to herself as apolitical, but said she will be voting for President Trump in the election.

Helen Comperatore said she has no “ill will” towards Biden regarding the incident that took the life of her husband. She knows that he is not responsible, but it was a “20-year-old despicable kid” that tragically took the life of Corey on July 13. Helen said she didn’t speak to Biden because Corey wouldn’t have wanted her to speak with him.

A public funeral was held for Corey Comperatore on July 18 followed by a private burial. President Trump was initially planning on attending, but later said he would not be able to make it to the service.
