(OurNationNews.com) An excerpt from former Puerto Rican Governor Ricardo Rosselló details a conversation with Donald Trump while he was president in 2017 about the prospect of nuclear warfare. Trump visited Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria caused significant damage to the island in 2017. Trump reportedly said nature tends to come back again, but it’s unknown what will happen with nuclear warfare.
According to the excerpt, Trump said that, under his watch, the United States would be the first to launch nuclear weapons. Rosselló said he couldn’t believe his ears and that the president was talking about nuclear annihilation while touring a hurricane damaged Puerto Rico.
Trump once said in 2018 that he has a larger nuclear arsenal than Kim Jong Un of North Korea. Since President Biden has been in office, Trump implied the Russia and Ukraine conflict could initiate World War III.
In response to the leaked excerpt, Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung pointed to Trump’s presidential foreign policy record. Cheung said that Trump is disgusted by the notion of nuclear war and brought a level of peace around the world that didn’t exist for decades. Cheung also mentioned that under Trump’s leadership, North Korea stopped testing nuclear weapons. He added that those tests have resumed since Biden became president.
Cheung continued by saying Biden’s leadership is bringing us closer to a global war, while Trump is dedicated to bringing peace to the world if he gets back into the office of president.
Other reports on Trump’s alleged nuclear weapon statements have mentioned the fear of a nuclear weapons launch following the events of January 6, 2021. Mark Milley, the Joint Chiefs of Staff chair, assured Speaker Pelosi that Trump cannot unilaterally order the launch of nuclear weapons. That requires the actions and approval of multiple people.
Trump criticized President Biden for referring to global warming as the greatest “existential risk” to humanity. Meanwhile, Trump feels that nuclear warfare is the most significant threat to humanity today.
