(OurNationNews.com) Retired Army Captain Sam Brown has received the endorsement of former president Donald Trump in Nevada’s primary to determine who will be the Republicans’ bet to represent the Silver State’s representative in the U.S. senate.
Republican candidates vying for the state’s seat in the Senate have all been angling to better align themselves with the former commander-in-chief – an endorsement from Trump gives Brown a massive leg up in what has shaped up to be a crowded primary race. The winner will then face off against the incumbent, Senator Jackie Rosen, a first-term moderate Democrat whom Republicans have made into one of its priority targets in this year’s election cycle.
The GOP feels that Nevada is the key to overturning the Democrats’ hold on the Senate, which has essentially blocked much of the bills that have passed at the Republican-dominated Lower House.
In his endorsement, Trump described Brown, an awardee of the prestigious Purple Heart medal, as a “FEARLESS AMERICAN PATRIOT” who supports Trump’s economic policies, as well as his planned crackdown on the Biden administration’s lax border security.
Brown beat out several other candidates who have close ties to the former chief executive, such as Jeff Gunter, who served as the U.S. ambassador to Iceland during Trump’s tenure in the White House. Another candidate, Jim Marchant, is known as a strong proponent of Trump’s claims that the 2020 elections were fraudulent. Brown’s campaign strategy centered on his experiences during his military service, where an IUD on a road in Afghanistan caused his facial scars and almost cost him his life. Brown also took a page out of Trump’s playbook, skipping several debates, which have led to criticism from his rivals.
Trump also referenced Brown’s scars, saying that the Senate hopeful suffered being “horrifically wounded” for his love for the country and is now “making the Comeback of a Lifetime.”
“Sam Brown has my Complete and Total Endorsement,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
