Steve Bannon Shows Up to Federal Prison to Serve 4 Month Sentence

(OurNationNews.com) Steve Bannon, a former advisor to Donald Trump, has reported to jail in Danbury, Connecticut to serve his four-month sentence.

Bannon was charged for not complying with a subpoena for a House Committee investigation into the events of January 6, 2021. He gave a speech outside of the jail and said he was proud to go to prison to stand up to Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and Attorney General Merrick Garland.

In October 2022, the four-month sentence was handed down and was followed by legal challenges. After attempting every appeal his legal team could try, he has now begun serving his sentence. He is expected to be released in November and he said he thinks Trump will win the election.

In a recent interview, Bannon downplayed the suggestion that Trump will seek retribution against his political enemies if he wins the 2024 election. However, he did mention several officials who he feels deserve to be punished for their actions within the administration. Bannon mentioned former FBI Directors Andrew McCabe and James Comey. He also mentioned Mark Esper, the former secretary of defense and Mark Milley. He also named the Trump administration’s Attorney General William Barr.

Bannon insisted that the word retribution was not the correct word because they are simply seeking justice. The interviewer asked him if his promise that AG Merrick Garland will go to jail, and Bannon confirmed by saying “100%.”

Former AG Bill Barr was questioned about Bannon’s comments and the former AG laughed when the interviewer said Bannon was in jail. Barr said he is not concerned about the legal threats that Bannon has espoused. Barr said that even if Trump is intent on seeking retribution, the team that surrounds him will ensure that he acts in accordance with the law.

Barr said he understands the concerns people have regarding Bannon’s rhetoric, but said it is not something that he thinks about or loses sleep over.
