RNC Co-Chair Lara Trump Dodges Question on Donor Cash for Trump’s Legal Bills

(OurNationNews.com) -While former president Donald Trump has even more problems on his plate following his being found guilty of all 34 felony charges related to his “hush money” case in Manhattan, his presidential campaign is full-steam ahead, with his campaign website crashing from the sheer amount of people donating to his second attempt at a second term in the White House.

According to Team Trump, the campaign raised close to $53 million in just 24 hours following the former chief executive’s guilty verdict. Trump and his Republican cohorts have bemoaned and condemned the verdict as a conspiracy headed by President Joe Biden and the Democrats designed to harass and persecute him, in an attempt to derail what the GOP believes will be an easy win come the presidential elections later this year. At the same time, conservatives believe that the guilty verdict will have the opposite effect and drive more support towards Trump. Forty-eight hours after the verdict, the contributions had ballooned to more than $70 million.

However, the co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC), Lara Trump, has refused to disclose what amount of the donation money meant for the campaign will be allotted to pay the former president’s colossal legal bills. Lara, who is Trump’s daughter-in-law through her marriage with his son Eric, said that only a “small percentage” of donations to Team Trump were being used to pay off the former commander-in-chief’s legal expenses. She also said that people would have to “wait and see” as the party has not seen any reason to necessitate making any further detailed disclosures at the moment.

Earlier in the year, Lara had claimed that the RNC would not allocate any money at all to help pay for Trump’s legal bills, but it was later found out that the former president had entered into a new joint fundraising deal with the RNC that prioritizes settling his legal bills over any other expenditures.
