Republicans Join Trump in Attacking Justice System After Guilty Verdict

(OurNationNews.com) -Republican congressional representatives are supporting Donald Trump in his criticism of the U.S. justice system.

Trump was found guilty on 34 felony charges of falsifying business records with the “hush money” payment to Stormy Daniels. Trump has frequently called out the prosecutor Alvin Bragg for political persecution and Republican lawmakers have joined Trump in calling the trial a political sham.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, a representative from Georgia, said she will vote for Trump even if he is imprisoned by the “Biden regime.” Trump has also received support from state officials, including Texas Governor Greg Abbott. Abbott called the trial a “kangaroo court” and said it wouldn’t withstand an appeal. He also called for American voters to fire President Biden in November for weaponizing the justice system against his political opponent.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton also called the trial a travesty that should be overturned. He said he would do everything within his power to counter the corruption inflicted by the state of New York and the Biden administration. Trump said the most important verdict will occur on November 5th at the ballot box when voters get to decide between him and Biden. President Biden released a statement and said the only way to prevent Trump from getting into the White House is to defeat him in the November election.

Mike Johnson, the Speaker of the House, said he expects the convictions to be overturned by appeal. Republican Senator Mitch McConnell has been critical of Trump in the past, but also released a statement of support. McConnell said the charges should’ve never been brought against Trump and he also thinks Trump will win his appeal to overturn the convictions.

Democratic lawmakers supported the verdict and said Trump was found guilty by a jury of his peers. They celebrated the ruling as an instance where justice prevailed, but they continue to caution against the possibility of Trump winning the election.
