Polls Show Trump Strong Against All Dem Challengers

(OurNationNews.com) Former President Donald Trump has strong poll numbers against all potential Democratic party challengers. President Biden has dropped out of the 2024 presidential race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to take the position. One set of polls shows Trump trailing Biden by two points, but he only trails Harris by one point. This set of polls was released on July 12 before the assassination attempt on Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Following the announcement from President Biden, Harris has received endorsements from Democrats to take the reins in an attempt to defeat Donald Trump in November’s election. She released a statement claiming she has received enough verbal support from party delegates to receive the nomination at the DNC convention in August. She is the presumptive nominee at this point, but delegates can change their minds until the official voting takes place.

Several other names have been floated as potential candidates after Biden had a weak debate performance against Trump in June. Governors Gavin Newsom and Gretchen Whitmer have been suggested as potential candidates as well as Vice President Harris. PBS News polls suggest a tight race between Trump and any Democratic party challenger, including Newsom, Whitmer, Biden, and Harris. Trump and Whitmer are tied in the pool while Newsom leads Trump by two points in a theoretical head-to-head matchup.

Harris is the presumptive nominee and has received endorsements from former President Bill Clinton, Governor Whitmer, and Governor Newsom among others. Whitmer said she knows that Harris will work for the people of Michigan and she has her full support. Whitmer also stated that she is not interested in being considered for the vice presidential slot on a Kamala Harris ticket.

The Harris campaign is reportedly vetting vice presidential candidates, including Governors Josh Shapiro, J.B. Pritzker, and Roy Cooper. Whitmer is also on the list of candidates being vetted for the opportunity despite her statement that she is not interested in the position.
