(OurNationNews.com) Vice President Kamala Harris was visibly angry during an interview with NBC’s Lester Holt after he asked her about visiting the border. Holt asked the VP if she has plans to visit the border. Harris said she is in Guatemala and stopped mid-sentence to say that “we have been to the border.” Holt responded by saying that she has not been to the border. Harris responded by saying that she also has not been to Europe and doesn’t understand the point of Holt’s question.
Harris went on to say that she is working on addressing the root causes of immigration. She said that some people don’t think that the root cause is important, but she feels that it is a requirement to address the problems happening at the border. Republicans have been criticizing Harris’ lack of action as the supposed “border czar.”
In the aftermath of the criticism, Axios and other media outlets have said that she was never appointed to be the border czar. Axios was hit with a community note on the platform X for making a false statement and the note used a screenshot from a 2021 Axios report that said she was appointed as the border czar. Axios has since updated the article to state they were wrong to refer to her as the border czar in the past 2021 report.
Rep Elise Stefanik and a bi-partisan group including six Democrats approved a resolution that condemns VP Harris for her lack of action as the “border czar.” Stefanik referred to a historical border crisis that has been enabled by Harris and the Biden administration. She said the disastrous policies have turned the whole country into a border community.
The original reports say Harris was appointed as “border czar” to address the root problems of immigration. She did not visit the border until three months after being named “border czar,” and eight million immigrants have illegally crossed the border since her 2021 visit.
