BLM Slam Democrats For Installing Harris as Nominee

(OurNationNews.com) As Republicans now train their sights on Vice President Kamala Harris in light of her being the presumptive presidential nominee of the Democratic Party, Harris is also facing criticism and opposition from an unexpected source – the Black Lives Matter movement.

In a statement addressing the stepping down of President Joe Biden and the appointment of Harris as his successor, the organization accused the Democrats of ignoring the rights of black voters, and called for the holding of a “snap primary” and called the pseudo-appoint of Harris as “undemocratic”.

“We demand an informal, virtual snap primary now that the incumbent president is no longer in the running,” the group said, regardless of the “historic” implications of Harris’ candidacy. Should Harris secure the Democratic presidential nomination, it would make her the first black woman and woman of color to be nominated for president in the country’s history. Should she win, she would be the first woman and first black woman and woman of color to hold the U.S. presidency.

The lack of a primary, the group said, was an attempt by the “Democratic Party elites and billionaire donors” to “manipulate Black voters”. Black Lives Matter also accused the delegates of the Democratic Party of acting like oligarchs and of attempting to ignore what actual voters think.

Should the Democrats persist in installing Harris as the party’s official candidate without a snap primary, BLM said that it would make the Democrats a “party of hypocrites” and remove credibility and legitimacy from Harris’ nomination, as she would not have truly secured a public nomination.

Harris’ nomination, the group said, should be done “through a process that upholds democratic principles and public participation.”

The statement from BLM is a stark contrast from the support the vice president has been getting from Democrats – reports indicate that she has even managed to secure enough commitments to eventually be named the party’s official presidential nominee.
