Bidens Signature Plan For Gaza Turning into Expensive Nightmare

(OurNationNews.com) President Biden’s proposal to create a better way to provide humanitarian aid to Palestine has turned out to be a dismal failure.

In March, Biden suggested that his administration would create a “floating pier system” to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza. Since the launch of the pier system in May, there have been significant issues that have prevented aid going to Gaza and it has put American soldiers in harm’s way.

The pier was not structured to handle rough water conditions in the Mediterranean, which set the project up for failure according to humanitarian aid workers. It is believed that Biden will put a stop to the pier system in the next couple weeks despite the initial plan to utilize the floating pier until September.

Justin Logan of the CATO Institute criticized the Biden administration’s approach to completing projects. Logan said the administration attempts to quickly solve a problem, but does so incoherently and without a proper strategy in place.

The pier reportedly cost $320 million and was demolished by rough waters about one week after first being utilized by the administration in May. Since May 17, the pier system has been in operation for 12 out of 38 days. The rest of the time, it has been out of commission and under repair.

The pier has failed to help the U.S. deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza even when it is operational. Security concerns have caused a shortage of trucks to deliver the many pallets of food and medicine that have been piling up. The head of the Eastern Mediterranean region of the World Health Organization said the pier has not been beneficial to the scale that is required to adequately provide aid to Gaza. She said land routes are necessary to provide aid, although the Israel Defense Forces have blocked all available land routes to Gaza.

The project required two months of time and the work of 1,000 soldiers. One soldier was seriously injured from working at the pier in May and sent back to a Texas hospital in critical condition.
