(OurNationNews.com) A 21-year old man turned in his father to the FBI for showing up to the capitol on January 6, 2021 and raised $200,000 from Democratic party supporters.
Jackson Reffitt of Texas was 18 at the time when his father, Guy Reffitt, was planning on doing something in response to the 2020 election results. Jackson said he knew his father was planning something big when he messaged the FBI on Christmas Eve.
Guy went to the Capitol and was recorded by his son, Jackson, after he returned home from the rally at the capitol on January 6. Jackson sent the recording to the FBI and shortly thereafter went on CNN to brag about his decision to turn in his father to the authorities. Anchor Chris Cuomo commended Jackson’s choice to turn in his dad.
Following the CNN interview, Jackson started a GoFundMe to receive assistance, because he “might be kicked out” of his house. Guy was sentenced to over seven years in prison for his actions on January 6. He did not enter the building or partake in any violent behavior, but he was armed while he stood for about 44 minutes on the staircase outside of the capitol.
According to the CNN segment, Guy Reffitt told his children “words to the effect” that if they turn him in then they are traitors and traitors get shot. During the interview, Jackson said that his father had changed over the course of the last four years after Cuomo said that Trump’s lies and extremism are splitting up families. Jackson said he didn’t feel his father had become more aggressive, but was acting more scared. He also said that Guy was more active online and was interacting with people on the far-right.
Jackson told the Daily Beast in a recent interview that if Trump had not spoken in Washington D.C. on January 6 to incite the crowd, then his dad wouldn’t have gone to the Capitol. The younger Reffitt said Trump is responsible for tearing up his family.
