AOC Seeking to Impeach Justice’s Thomas and Alito

(OurNationNews.com) Ultra-liberal Democratic New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has made good on her threats to try to remove a number of conservative justices from the Supreme Court after she filed articles of impeachment against Supreme Court magistrates Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito.

AOC said that one of the main considerations in her filing the articles of impeachment was Thomas’ and Alito’s refusal to recuse from certain cases being reviewed by the country’s highest court despite the existence of “widely documented financial and personal entanglements” that certain elements of these cases have with the judges in question.

Thomas and Alito have long been the subject of supposed complaints of ethics violations from members of the legislature, particularly from left-leaning lawmakers. Thomas allegedly violated the Supreme Court’s code of ethics when he received luxury trips and expensive travel perks from a wealthy conservative benefactor. The justice has not denied receiving the gifts, but said that due to the nature of the gifts, they were exempt from the high court’s disclosure requirements. Thomas also stressed that his judgements were in no way influenced by them.

Critics of Alito, on the other hand, point to incidents where the United States flag was flown upside down in his home, and another flag associated with the rioters in the January 6, 2021 riot in the Capitol was flown outside another house owned by the Alitos.

They must be removed,” the outspoken New York representative said of the two justices, whom she said are “prone and subject to corruption” and have exercised an “abuse of power.” Ocasio-Cortez further claimed that there is no basis for Americans to believe that Thomas and Alito are “working to uphold the Constitution and put the country ahead of their own individual self-interests.”

Impeaching Thomas and Alito, AOC concluded, is a “constitutional imperative and our congressional duty.”

AOC had previously said that she intended to file articles of impeachment against Supreme Court justices, but did not name who, following the high tribunal’s recent decision that ruled that U.S. presidents such as former president Donald Trump enjoyed a certain degree of immunity from acts made during their tenure as the country’s chief executive.
