Trump’s Provocative Comments Raise Concerns
In a recent interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Senator-elect Adam Schiff (D-CA) addressed alarming comments made by President-elect Donald Trump. Trump, speaking on Fox News, referred to Schiff and Speaker Nancy Pelosi as “the enemy from within” and hinted at possible military action against political adversaries.
Trump’s comments included suggestions of using the National Guard or military to handle “radical left lunatics.” This rhetoric has raised serious concerns about potential abuse of power and threats to constitutional liberties.
Trump continues to threaten military action against his domestic “enemies.”
He seeks to justify it with the usual falsehoods about his impeachment and Jan 6.
But there is no justification for such dictatorial behavior.

Schiff’s Response to Trump’s Threats
When asked by CNN’s Jake Tapper about Trump’s comments, Schiff acknowledged the seriousness of the situation. He expressed concern about the implications of such rhetoric but emphasized his determination to continue his work in the Senate.
“Clearly, that’s what he was talking about. Would he go to the military and essentially fulfill some kind of an unconstitutional order? I would hope the military would have more independence than that. Historically, the military has stood up to civilian authority where civilian authority has suggested, as in his first administration, unconstitutional acts. Um, look, I’m not going to be intimidated by anything he says by anything he does.
If I was, I wouldn’t be on your show. I’m going to do my responsibility in the Senate. Californians are expecting me, first and foremost, to try to work and get things done, work across the aisle where the president wants to fight prices. I will work with him. Where the president wants to engage in unconstitutional abuses of power, just as he did in the first administration, I will defend our state. I will defend the rights and freedom of the American people. So, yeah, that’s what he said. That’s what he may try to do. But I’m not going to be intimidated.”
Schiff’s response underscores his commitment to fulfilling his responsibilities as a Senator, despite the provocative nature of Trump’s comments.
Schiff’s Commitment to Bipartisanship and Constitutional Defense
Despite the contentious atmosphere, Schiff emphasized his intention to work across the aisle on critical issues such as fighting inflation. He stated his willingness to collaborate with the President on matters beneficial to the American people.
However, Schiff also made it clear that he would stand firm against any unconstitutional abuses of power. He reiterated his commitment to defending the rights and freedoms of Californians and all Americans, regardless of political pressures or threats.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, Schiff’s stance highlights the ongoing tension between partisan politics and the preservation of constitutional norms. His response to Trump’s provocative rhetoric underscores the challenges facing elected officials in maintaining democratic principles amid heightened political divisions.
